Our Sun is ~ 8,650 pixels across in diameter. Each pixel represents 100 miles. Look at its size compared to Earth and dare say "There is an energy shortage"! It is now time to build automated solar energy factories so as to incourage the civilization of Sol to stop global warming and to grow unlimited beyond the confines of Earth.
Planets to Scale
Mercury is 3,032 miles in diameter, ~36 million miles from the sun. Known in Greece as Hermes, was related to quick thinking, magic, illusion, and trickery. Being so close to the sun, it coincidincally proved classical newtonian physics unfit for tracking its whereabouts (relativity to the rescue)!
Venus, 7,521 miles in diameter, about 67 million from the sun. Venus is our evil twin 'sis tempting us to follow her into a run away greenhouse!
Earth is ~8,000 mi dia, 93 million miles from the Sun which is 865,000 miles in diameter. Pictured here, our dynamic home is 80 pixels across and orbits 930,000 pixels away, at screen resolution of ~84 pixels per inch, the 8 foot, 8 inch sun would be just over 3 football fields away. We are almost exactly 500 light seconds away. The Moon being 400 times smaller in dia than the sun, yet 400 times closer, they both appear the same size.
Mars is 4,222 miles in diameter and about 142 million from the sun. It's best not to waste money on trying to colonize it yet... That money needs to be used for the development of the unlimited energy we need to sustain ourselves here on Earth first... (Then it would be a piece of cake to colonize)!
 
All the dots for the "i" and the "periods" here are the asteroids. It was once believed that humanity would harvest them for their well being (after becoming a true Space Based Race). The one with our name on it will simply be mined for its quadrillions of $$$ worth of resources! However, The robot race (once initiated) will expontiate ~1,000,000,000 faster than us and will beat us to the punch... Nevertheless, they may create an Earth like habitat by assembling "dumdbots" into a 2.2 million mile ring that orbits in L5, exactly once per 24 hours giving its inhabitants 1 G and many thousands of times the space we have on Earth, slanted at 23 degrees with eliptical walls containing an exact replication of Earths atmosphere gleened from the rich resources of the remaining asteroids, some of the outer moons and even some of the atmosphere of the gas giants themselves. It will use all the forces (including solar to a small degree) to overcome gravitational and radiation disturbances. Though billions of times smarter than us, the robotic self expontiating race does not have to save us from ourselves.
If such a robotic race initiates, they will develop the ability to travel time within mere days or seconds after conception. Because we don't already observe them, there are a few possibilities to consider. It's against their law to go back in time (it appears that faster than lightspeed would entail backwards time travel). Possibly, we destroyed ourselves before creating advanced artificial intelligence (AI), however, since such robotic race would colonize the entire universe at close to or far beyond light speed, this implies that ALL other possible civilizations (out there) have not made it to developing AI (and since such civilizations may have created AI millions of years ago, or even themselves colonize the universe, there should be a sign regardless of any time travel abilities). The least possible explanation is that all biological life prevents the development of the robotic race...
Or perhaps we are indeed alone in the universe making this particular Solar System better (and that our created robotic race is indeed restricted from backwards time travel)!

Being the largest planet, Jupiter's volume is equal to 1,317 Earths, yet is only 318 times as heavy as it is composed mainly of hydrogen (under such high pressures much of it is metallic). Jupiter is 5.2 times as far from the sun as we (5.2AU). It is also in a 5:2 orbital resenence with Saturn (meaning it goes around the sun five times to Saturns two times)
Saturn is 74,898 miles across and is 888,188,000 miles from the sun. Its thousands of visable rings are accentuated by a hexagon like pattern on its north pole (Saturn is also the sixth planet).
Uranus is 31,763 miles across and orbits slightly over twice as far from the sun as Saturn at 1.783 billion miles from the sun.
Neptune, 30,778 miles in dia, and about 2.8 billion from the sun.
3,674,000,000 miles to Pluto ~ 120 football feilds away (6.75mi, 11.14km) in this tiny scale model. Surprizingly, this Oort cloud object has an orbital campanion of its own (a moon called Charon).
In order from the sun, the nine planets are pictured to scale in size. Actual distance from Sol to the Alpha Centari System in this tiny scale would be like going around the world twice or about 1/4 of the way to the Moon! Our Galaxy would still span 25,000 times that!
